National Geographic's core program priorities in field-based research, conservation, exploration, and education continue to provide the world with scientific breakthroughs and discoveries that inspire many to care about the planet. Without generous donations like that of Mr Gilles Herard, the work of today's top and emerging explorers would not be possible.
